Please take a moment to review our module description, outcomes, and purpose. Consider: What are you hoping to learn, and what do you want to implement into your teaching?
“We do not exist through ourselves alone but through the environment that shaped us.” — Jean Renoir
All students have greatness within them. If that greatness is to grow and thrive, it needs to have the right environment. Learn four strategies for cultivating a strong PBL culture with an emphasis on beliefs and values through a blend of videos and activities. Conclude with a reflection and commit to a next step.
Now, on a sheet of paper or in your journal, write a question you hope to have answered by the end of the course based on our outcomes. Consider what would shift for you if you've answered this question.
Make sure you can find this question later and actively reflect on it throughout the module.
Our first video introducing Build the Culture.
We have come to the final steps of the Build the Culture module. This module asked some big things of you. Stopping to name your values and beliefs isn’t always easy. They can be under the surface, unexamined, but they are there regardless. Thank you for stepping into the work with us!
This final reflection is in two parts. First, you will focus on your learning. Second, you will revisit the inquiry question you crafted at the beginning of the module. Let’s get started!
I used to think _________________,
Now I think _________________.
In the video, we mentioned additional routines and protocols. In addition to a host of other resources on Beliefs and Values, we’d like to specifically lift up the Visible Thinking Routines and School Reform Initiative. While the latter are designed for educators, they are easy to adapt for student use. Happy exploring!
At the beginning of this module, we introduced the module description, outcomes, and purpose and asked you to write a question that you hoped would be answered. While reviewing our outcomes and purpose, refer back to that question to answer the following prompt below:
That’s a wrap. Happy PBL culture building!
