Please take a moment to review our module description, outcomes, and purpose. Consider: What are you hoping to learn, and what do you want to implement into your teaching?
Just because students are active doesn’t mean they are collaborating. The Collaboration module adds color and texture to the HQPBL criteria by exploring some of the collaboration’s underlying components. After getting to know what collaboration is in the video you can see some strategies in action through vignettes. The module closed with a reflection and identification of next steps.
Now, on a sheet of paper or in your journal, write a question you hope to have answered by the end of the course based on our outcomes. Consider what would shift for you if you've answered this question.
Make sure you can find this question later and actively reflect on it throughout the module.
Head over to the video on Collaboration in HQPBL!
The video took some time to explore collaboration components, emphasizing thinking collaboratively. The vignettes highlight two different thinking routines in action — +1 Routine and Imagine if…
Read one or both examples and then:
"Time and reflection change the sight little by little 'til we come to understand.” — Paul Cezanne.
We have arrived at the final station in the Collaboration module journey. We have a series of reflections to help you make sense of what you learned. Grab your journal (digital or old school analog!) and let’s start with the Imagine If… routine.
Consider what collaboration in your classroom looks like currently. "Imagine if" with the prompts below.
In what ways could it be
more effective?
In what ways could it be
more asset-based?
In what ways could it be
more authentic?
There are many wonderful approaches to the key components of collaboration. Below are additional resources to broaden your tool set (or toy box, if you like!)
At the beginning of this module, we introduced the module description, outcomes, and purpose and asked you to write a question that you hoped would be answered. While reviewing our outcomes and purpose, refer back to that question to answer the following prompt below:
That’s a wrap! As a next step, try out an idea you learned in this module to strengthen collaboration. Best of luck!
